Terms of Service
1. The Service
Voca Catcher (the "Service") is a vocabulary app for iPhone and Mac provided by Connecting Dot, a sole proprietorship (the "Company", "we"). These Terms apply to everyone who installs or uses the Service ("you"). By installing or using the Service you agree to these Terms.
Core features such as dictionary lookup, the word list, the speed quiz and iCloud sync are free and do not require signing in.
2. Accounts
- A Pro subscription requires signing in with your Apple account. Signing in lets the subscription work on both your iPhone and Mac. We keep only the identifier and the optional email address that Apple passes to us. See the Privacy Policy.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app's settings. Deleting it removes the account information and subscription link we hold. Your word list and learning history live in your iCloud and are not stored by us.
- You must be at least 14 years old to create an account.
3. Pro subscription
- Pro provides the midterm and final exam modes and a larger sentence translation allowance (10,000 characters per day per account). The current features are shown on the Pro screen in the app.
- Pro is sold as a monthly or yearly subscription at the price shown at checkout, including applicable tax.
- One subscription works on every iPhone and Mac signed in with the same Apple account. Subscriptions are not transferable.
- We may change what Pro includes or what it costs. We will give at least 30 days' notice in the app or by email before a price increase, and the new price applies from your next renewal.
4. Payment and automatic renewal
- iPhone: payment is processed by the Apple App Store and charged to your Apple account. Apple's terms also apply.
- Mac: payment is processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd ("Paddle") acting as merchant of record. Paddle's terms also apply, and Paddle emails you the receipt and a subscription management link.
- Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it renews.
- We never receive or store your payment details such as card numbers.
5. Cancellation
- Purchased on iPhone: cancel in iPhone Settings → your Apple account → Subscriptions.
- Purchased on Mac: cancel through the subscription management link in the email Paddle sent you. If you cannot find it, contact us.
- After cancelling you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for, and it will not renew.
- Deleting the app or your account does not cancel the subscription. Cancel it using the steps above.
6. Refunds
- App Store purchases follow Apple's refund policy and are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot refund App Store purchases ourselves.
- Mac (Paddle) purchases: contact us within 14 days of payment and we will refund the full amount, no questions asked. Refunds go back to the original payment method and may take 5–10 business days to appear.
- After 14 days we refund the unused portion only if you could not use Pro because of a fault on our side, such as an outage.
- Pro ends immediately when a refund is issued.
- Nothing in this section limits rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.
7. Sentence translation and limits
- Sentence translation goes through our server to Google Cloud Translation. Free users get 500 characters per day per device (installation) and Pro users 10,000 characters per day per account. Limits may change as needed to operate the Service.
- If you enter your own Google Cloud Translation API key in the app, translation goes directly to Google with your key, bypassing our server, and its cost and management are your responsibility.
- We do not guarantee the accuracy of translations or dictionary content.
8. Content and intellectual property
- The Service's software, design and trademarks belong to the Company. You receive a revocable, non-exclusive licence for personal, non-commercial use only.
- English dictionary content is derived from Wiktionary contributors via kaikki.org (Wiktextract) and is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.
- Words and notes you save are yours and are stored in your iCloud.
9. Prohibited conduct
The following is prohibited. We may restrict or suspend access without notice if it occurs.
- Requesting dictionary or translation data in bulk by automated means, or circumventing usage limits
- Reverse engineering or tampering with the Service, or defeating its security measures
- Interfering with other users or violating applicable law
10. Changes to the Service
- We may add, change or retire features. Changes that materially affect paid features will be announced at least 30 days in advance.
- If we shut down the Service entirely we will give at least 30 days' notice in the app and by email, and refund the remaining portion of any subscription.
- The Service may be temporarily unavailable because of maintenance, outages, or issues at third parties (Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Paddle).
11. Limitation of liability
- The Service is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
- Except where caused by our wilful misconduct or gross negligence, we are not liable for indirect or special damages or for data loss arising from use of the Service. Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
- This section applies only to the extent permitted by law and does not limit your statutory consumer rights.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Updates are posted on this page with their effective date, with at least 7 days' notice in the app or by email, or at least 30 days' notice for changes that are unfavourable to you. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, cancel your subscription and stop using the Service.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. We will try to resolve any dispute through contact first; otherwise disputes are heard by the competent court under the Korean Civil Procedure Act. If you live outside Korea, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country may also apply.
